If there’s one thing that Singaporeans miss when they go overseas, especially to a more caucasian environment, one of the things that they’ll miss will be…. Curry! And mostly Curry Chicken I guess? At least for me.
Had this curry chicken at Curry Times by Old Chang Kee at Westgate Shopping Centre, located at Jurong, where the mall competition is super heated up right now, with another one opening soon this year.
Located at quite a corner, you may have missed this outlet if you don’t pay much attention.
We ordered their Curry Chicken set for 2, which supposedly comes with more pieces of potatoes, but they kind of ran out, so they added more pieces of chicken (only one actually).
The curry is rich and savoury, but lacks the punch of spiciness, if you’re looking for that, spicy lovers will be a little disappointed. However, it’s still enjoyable for me, especially goes super well with their rice. I wished they had given more curry sauce though, cause I could just drink curry like that (like soup you know?) haha… Personal preference only. They do have options of having prata or french loaf if you are not a rice lover.
The chicken pieces they give are also more from the thigh meat, and so far we didn’t get chicken wings (which some do). So the chicken meat is very tender. Something worth the mention is their chicken skin is absolutely enjoyable to me, it’s like those hainanese white chicken skin, ultra smooth and doesn’t reek of foul smell, which I think means they use rather fresh chicken for their curry.
Next up, we just had to cool down with a bowl of dessert, which is a bowl of Chendol~ One of Singapore’s best loved desserts I guess? This small bowl of Chendol is every bit delicious and the gula melaka they used was matchable to the ones you have a Melaka! One bowl was actually not enough for both of us to share! haha, but still had to leave space for stomach to prevent it from being too full. If you can see from the photos, their coconut milk seems to be thicker than usual, which probably means they whipped it up to serve. The atap seeds inside were also aplenty, which shows their ingredients inside is certainly not selfish. (=
Something that kids will like, or perhaps to reminisce your old days, they have this complimentary biscuits for their customers, but only limited to a paper cone size that they provide. Something that people will appreciate yeah?
